God of War fans continue to petition for Santa Monica Studios to confirm an official release date for Ragnarok, with a developer teasing that "Ragnarok is coming", leaving many to speculate an announcement is on the way.

Rumor has it that a God of War: Ragnarok announcement was originally scheduled for June 30th, with many expecting the announcement to reveal an official release date. Unfortunately, fans were once again left waiting. Although the lack of announcement was disappointing, Jason Schreier says that the game has not been delayed, contrary to other rumors circulating online.

But, as time goes on, fans are beginning to become more and more concerned over a possible delay to God of War: Ragnarok.

Cory Barlog Teases That God of War: Ragnarok "Is Coming"

Taking to Twitter, Cory Barlog, the creative director of video game development at Santa Monica Studios, said that "ragnarok is coming". The tease was then followed by a gif of Kratos himself nodding, with the caption "yes".

It may not mean much, but with all of the rumors and contradicting reports online, fans believe that Cory's tease may mean some form of release date announcement could be coming soon. One Reddit user said that they believe "this is the week we finally get to see something", whilst a large number of fans on Twitter simply expressed their excitement.

Cory's tease comes off the back of a statement from Santa Monica Studios after members of their staff began receiving online harassment due to the lack of Ragnarok news. In the statement, Santa Monica said that they are "working to create a game that [they] are proud of" and that fans should be "treating each other, every gamer and developer alike, with respect".

The team at Santa Monica are clearly hard at work on what will likely be one of the biggest releases of the year. In the meantime, fans will have to remain patient for a confirmed release date. Currently, God of War: Ragnarok has a release window of 2022.
