More information on the upcoming God of War game for PS4 has been disclosed in a podcast included in the official website of the game, shared directly by Director Cory Barlog.

We learn that Elder Futhark is the base language within the game, but every realm has its own, and it's possible to learn some of them. Translating some of those inscriptions may open parts of the game or reveal hidden quests.

The game includes magic, and it involves words, spoken incantations and runes. Earth magic involves touching the ground, and Kratos can open a magic item that will allow Atreus to remember stories his mother told him.

Runes connect characters to the magical energy of the world, and are used to imbue them with that energy via tattoos (like the ones on Atreus' arms). Kratos and Atreus will have to translate some of those rules, and some some puzzles involve doing that to make a decision.

Norse gods are depicted in a much different way compared to Greek gods. Greek gods are a bit like politicians, manipulating humans into doing their bidding, while Norse gods are more down to earth.

There are three kinds of norse gods, the Æsir, the Vanir and the Giants. The Æsir live every moment to the fullest, always ready to fight and get drunk. The Vanir live in harmony with nature, keeping the balance and acting as the keepers of magic. The Giants are those who create amazing things, but they end up caught in the middle in the conflict between Æsir and Vanir.

On top of the info, we get three more pieces of concept artwork showing underground areas. If you want to see more, you can check out another batch, and a second gallery.

God of War will release in early 2018 exclusively for PS4.
