As September began drawing to an end, many fans of the upcoming sports RPG Golf Story were beginning to think that that the highly anticipated Switch title might miss its promised September release window. Luckily, today those concerns were put to rest.

Sidebar Games announced this evening that Golf Story will be arriving on Nintendo Switch this coming Thursday, September 28.

If you’re unfamiliar with Golf Story yourself, then here’s a quick description of the game as described by the developer:

Golf Story combines the sheer excitement of golf with a serious story that plays out over 8 different courses. Play the story of a golfer who is forced to give up all that he holds dear for one last shot at accomplishing his dreams. But all is not so simple in the world of golf. To best today’s players you have to be able to keep up with them both on and off the course.

Along with boasting a unique narrative, Golf Story also combines RPG mechanics in with the game’s core golfing mechanics to set it apart and make it more than just another sports game. It also has some gorgeous visuals that are reminiscent of games from the 16-bit era to go along with that old school golfing gameplay.

Golf Story was first revealed for the Switch earlier this year before later receiving a release window of September during last month’s Nindies Showcase. Personally, I’ve been looking forward to Golf Story for quite some time and can’t wait to dive into it this Thursday.
