Don’t worry, this isn’t a permanent choice, but it is one you’ll need to live with for an hour or two. To change your character, you’ll need to first complete the tutorial mission and your first night on patrol in Gotham. For now, we’ll assume you’ve chosen to play Red Hood, a beefy brawler with double guns and an attitude.

Playstyle And Abilities

Gotham Knights Red Hood Guide Combat

Red Hood is a fairly versatile character, and how you play him will often depend on the situation and your chosen skills. In many ways, Red Hood is an amazing brawler. He can get up in the face of his enemies and dominate them with grabs, strikes, and throws. His character feels heavy, and his hits feel powerful, but he is also going to take a lot of hits with that approach to combat.

It’s worth remembering that Red Hood comes equipped with a couple of guns because ranged combat is also a viable option for this powerhouse. You can aim and shoot, dealing some awesome direct damage, or you can shoot as part of your attack combo. Both options give you a little more distance from enemies and can help keep you out of harm’s way, especially if you happen to be low on health.

Skill Tree

Gotham Knights Red Hood Guide Skills

It’s worth stating here that all the skill trees for Red Hood are viable in Gotham Knights. As for what stands out, Brawler and Vengeance both come to mind. Brawler really allows you to get up close and personal with your enemies. You’ll be given perks, like being able to grab enemies at half-health, attaching concussive mines to them, and throwing them back at other opponents. You’ll also gain the ability to grab larger opponents, making the fights against mini-bosses much more manageable than before.

Vengeance also has a few good skills, though they tend to be a little more passive than active. If you pick up the right skills, you can gain bonuses when facing off against the different factions of Gotham’s underworld. While this may not be the flashiest option, sometimes having a straight buff in a fight is very useful.

Unlocking Knighthood

After you've completed your first night on patrol, you'll notice some Knighthood challenges waiting to be completed. If you're thinking about playing Red Hood for a while, put in some time to unlock the most powerful version of himself. All of the Knights have this challenge, and completing it comes with major boons and unlocks. For Red Hood specifically, Knighthood unlocks a mystical step ability and mystical shots to use with Red Hood’s guns. These upgrades give Red Hood's guns some extra power behind their shots and make for some fun gameplay when fully upgraded through the Knighthood tree.

The leveling system in Gotham Knight is extremely forgiving and prevents players from having to engage in needless grinding. When you level one Knight, like Batgirl, all of the other Knights level up as well. So, if you decide you want to take on Gotham as Robin, Red Hood, or Nightwing, you'll find them all to be just as powerful and well-equipped for crime-fighting. There's nothing to stop you from trying out every Knight as much as you'd like. In fact, one could even say this system encourages you to do so.
