Gran Turismo 7 Release Date Trailer Is a Love Letter to Fans

We finally know the Gran Turismo 7 release date thanks to a new trailer, and it is packed with tributes to previous entries in the franchise. Here are some of the more prominent ones we caught.

Gran Turismo is back! That’s the message being conveyed by the new Gran Turismo 7 release date trailer that just came out. Not only did the trailer feature fan-favorite cars, old and new, but it was also packed with references and callbacks to Gran Turismo entries of the past.

The first four Gran Turismo games especially got some love with some of the more extended mood-setting scenes that were previously pre-rendered in their respective opening movies, having been remade, and shown with Gran Turismo 7’s in-engine graphics. Let’s take a look at some of these.

Gran Turismo references and callbacks


One of the opening shots of Gran Turismo‘s intro remade in Gran Turismo 7.

The stands from the opening movie of Gran Turismo 1 recreated in Gran Turismo 7.

A bird that is about to fly off as the lights turn on in GT and GT7.

A truck opens up revealing a car inside in GT and GT7.

Here we see the recreation of the original Gran Turismo logo in the GT7 trailer.


A clever shot with reflections, pre-rendered in the Gran Turismo 2 intro now remade with in-engine graphics in Gran Turismo 7′s trailer.


Pistons firing in both Gran Turismo 3‘s intro and the Gran Turismo 7 release date trailer.


A truly remarkable shot from the Gran Turismo 4 intro now redone in Gran Turismo 7.

Gran Turismo 7 is coming to Playstation 4 and Playstation 5 on March 4, 2022.
