Sony has released the first footage from the upcoming Grand Turismo movie during the CES 2023 showcase, giving fans a sneak peek into the adrenaline-fuelled racing experience and director Neill Blomkamp's impressive drone shots. The trailer also features a few brief comments from the movie's star-studded cast, including Orlando Bloom, David Harbour, and Archie Madekwe.

The short teaser trailer, which is viewable below, showcases a few shots of the racetrack where drivers are ready to compete on the asphalt with their sports cars. It features the original footage from the Gran Turismo game as a reference to its source material. Additionally, notable casts of the adaptation project, such as David Harbour and Orlando Bloom, provide some brief words on the movie's emotional front and drama that will be seen off the track. Fans also got a glimpse of how the production team shot a racing scene with the help of drone shots and Sony Venice 2 cameras.

The Gran Turismo movie will be based on the real story of Jann Mardenborough, a British star who started his career by playing racing games. The movie will feature Archie Madekwe, who will take the role of Jann as the youngest winner of the Nissan GT academy competition. The upcoming sports film is directed by Neill Blomkamp, best known for his work on District 9 and Chappie. With the screenplay being written by Jason Hall and Zach Baylin, the cast of the movie also includes David Harbour, Orlando Bloom, Darren Barnet, and Djimon Hounsou.

David Harbour will play Jack Salter, Jann's trainer, while Orlando Bloom will take the role of Danny Moore, a motorsport marketing executive. Djimon Hounsou and Geri Halliwell will also appear as Jann's family. Gran Turismo movie tells an ultimate wish fulfillment of a skilled Gran Turismo player who won a series of Nissan GT academy competitions to become a professional driver. As seen in the footage, the director will highlight the POV to convey the action-packed asphalt racing to the audience with special camera work.

Produced by the collaboration between Sony and Columbia Pictures, the Gran Turismo movie will be released in theaters on August 11, 2023.
