The popular PlayStation exclusive racing franchise will finally come back from its extensive four year hiatus when the next entry Gran Turismo Sport launches next week. A new video features the series’ creator Kazunori Yamauchi and President of SIE Worldwide Studios Shuhei Yoshida as they reminisce on the original game’s development as well as discuss what players can look forward to from the upcoming title.
As footage from various Gran Turismo games — including Gran Turismo Sport — is shown, Yamauchi-san explains how dedicated the original development team was while making the series’ inaugural title stating they “had this growing conviction every day that we were on the to some incredible work even when seen on a global level.”
Additionally, Yamauchi-san describes how “irreplaceable” each member of Polyphony is by stating “each of those 200 members does a job that only that individual can do.”
Gran Turismo Sport was originally unveiled during Sony’s pre-Paris Games Week Press Conference back in 2015. However, the racing title was supposed to release last November, but was delayed. It was not until last July where we received the game’s official launch date alongside a trailer.
Recently, an open beta was set out in the wild so interested players could test drive the upcoming title. To the surprise of Polyphony, the limited demo was played by over one million users.
Gran Turismo Sport launches exclusively for PlayStation 4 on October 17, 2017.
