Granblue Fantasy New Updates, Still No Word on Relink

In an anti-climatic outcome, we didn't see or learn anything new about Granblue Fantasy Relink during the franchise's 6th-anniversary event.

So Cygames held the 6th anniversary stream for Granblue Fantasy on March 8, revealing tons of upcoming updates to the PC and mobile RPG. Most notably, the game’s battle system is getting new features,  and two new classes: the Lumberjack class and the Cavalier class. Another big announcement was a new collaboration event with Imas Cinderella Girls coming on May. I’m sure you can read about all this stuff in a much more detailed fashion elsewhere already, so let’s skip to the main subject.

During the stream, we also had some news regarding Granblue Fantasy Versus. However, the whole event sadly had no segment dedicated to the upcoming PlayStation 4 action RPG Granblue Fantasy Relink. There was no trailer, no gameplay, nada. Instead, the staff only quickly mentioned the game when the event was about to end. When everyone on stream was sharing some messages for the fans, Director Tetsuya Fukuhara mentioned how Cygames is still working on Granblue Fantasy Relink, and asked fans to keep supporting Granblue Fantasy for its 7th year. While I did mention that this kind of no update scenario was a possibility, it was still pretty disappointing to actually see it happen.

Granblue Fantasy Relink has no release date for now and Director Fukuhara explained why at the last Granblue Fantasy Fes. Hopefully, we’ll hear more about the game before the Granblue Fantasy Fes 2020, which was announced on this stream for December 11-13, 2020.

If you’re a seiyuu fan, I’d recommend skimming around segments of the anniversary event. You’ve got most notably the various video messages some of the seiyuu recorded to wish Granblue a happy birthday at the 1:54:12 mark. You should also check out the segment with Nao Tōyama and M.A.O fighting on Granblue Fantasy Versus at the 2:33:08 mark.

The event’s full stream is included below. And I’m still waiting for Uma Musume.
