Following the announcement of Granblue Fantasy Relink, the director of Granblue Fantasy (mobile), Tetsuya Fukuhara, revealed new details about multiple things from the game in an interview with Famitsu. In case you're also interested in Granblue Fantasy Versus Fukuhara-san also gave tons of details about that upcoming title in the Granblue universe.

First and foremost, players will not have to be knowledgeable when it comes to the mobile game's storyline. Of course, if you're already a fan of that title, you'll be able to appreciate this storyline a little bit more. Granblue Fantasy Relink takes place sometime ahead of the mobile game alongside Granblue Fantasy Versus. Also, new characters who'll appear in Relink may also make their way into the mobile game's storyline.

Additionally, Cygames revealed some new Granblue Fantasy Relink gameplay in which we see an item hanging from the neck of the character Vyrn. Fukuhara-san said that this item will allow Vyrn to communicate with party members around the world. We also got some new details on how the game will flow. Players will traverse through various stages and areas to eventually take on a boss. There'll also be subquests and elements of exploration in different areas.

Fukuhara-san didn't comment on the specific amount of playable characters. However, he did make a comparison to Platinum Games' Bayonetta, saying that many weapons in that title offer very different play styles. In that regard, if you count each weapon-type as a character, there'll be plenty of different characters for players to tackle. Unlocking characters will occur through fulfilling different requirements in-game.

Granblue Fantasy Relink will also have four-player co-op. Players will be able to choose a character before quests. Since progression varies between each person players can all choose the same character if they want. Once the main story is complete, players will be able to access more challenging quests that they can tackle with teammates. However, players will also be able to take on easier quests in co-op before the end of the game.

In terms of development progress, Fukuhara-san said that Granblue Fantasy Relink is just as far along as Granblue Fantasy Versus. Since Relink is a much larger game than Versus expect it to launch sometime after. Finally, Cygames is interested in bringing Granblue Fantasy Relink to PC via Steam but as of right now their focus is on console.

Granblue Fantasy Relink was originally meant to launch exclusively on PS4 this year but was pushed back. As of right now, there's no set release date.
