CygamesCygames has released a new character trailer for Granblue Fantasy: Versus. Percival, "The Lord of Flames," is officially joining the playable cast. He is a visually stunning character, and his music sounds great as well. Check out the trailer below.

Percival appears to deal most of his damage with a huge red sword, and it looks like he can set it on fire for extra damage and utility. At the end of this video, he conjures a giant pillar of flame--some kind of powerful super move. All in all, Percival appears to be a bit of a "heavy hitter."

Granblue Fantasy: Versus is a collaborative effort by legendary fighting game developer Arc System Works and Cygames--a company known more for its mobile games. The pairing came as something of a surprise, but the game seems to be shaping up really well.

Arc System Works is taking a steadied, methodical approach at the gameplay of Granblue Fantasy: Versus. Movement options, for example, are much more limited than they are in Blazblue, Dragon Ball FighterZ, and Guilty Gear. There are no universal air-dashes and double jumps here, and instead of high-flying and head-spinning action, the game focuses on footsie battles and careful zoning--something more in line with the Street Fighter series than with traditional "anime" fighting games.

More information regarding the new fighter will surely be announced next week at Granblue Extra Fes 2019. The event runs through August 3 and 4. Let's keep our fingers crossed for another playable build and a more definite release date.

At this time, Granblue Fantasy: Versus is expected to release sometime in 2019 for the PS4. DualShockers has already discussed the possibility of a PC port with Cygames's Kenichiro Takaki.
