Granblue Fantasy Versus: Where is Our Review for the New Fighter?
To put it simply, we want to check out the online features during launch before we post our Granblue Fantasy Versus review.
The embargo has finally lifted, which means I can freely speak about Arc System Works and Cygames’ new fighting game, Granblue Fantasy Versus. As such, you must be wondering where the official DualShockers Granblue Fantasy Versus review is. Long story short, there is a bit more of the game I want to check out before I give you a full review.
Specifically, I want to see how Granblue Fantasy Versus‘ online mode is during the first few days of the North American release. While online features don’t make or break a game, the competitive nature of a game such as this can certainly affect my score. To put it simply, I just want to see if it runs well online.
That isn’t to say I have not partaken in a few matches online. In fact, I did and performed miserably. But as of right now, Granblue Fantasy Versus seems to work just fine online. Loading may take a bit longer than I prefer, but when the match loads, it feels as smooth as local play. Something I noticed during an online match is the use of delay. I’m not entirely sure how it works, but by my name, it would say “delay” and a number. I don’t know if that means it is delaying my inputs so it feels as close to local play as possible, or if there is a delay for the opponent, but it felt smooth nonetheless.
I don’t want to say too much about Granblue Fantasy Versus. After all, I’d like for anyone interested to check out my review without knowing too much of my specific qualms or adorations. But I will say I really enjoy this game. It is so intuitive, beautiful, and most importantly, fun. Arc System Works is arguably the best modern fighting game developer, and Granblue Fantasy Versus is proof of that notion.
Check back soon for our review of Granblue Fantasy Versus, which will be available for PS4 on March 3; the PC version launches via Steam on March 13.
