Grand Theft Auto V Might Be The Next Free Game on Epic Games Store [Update]

Rumors suggest that Epic Games Store is going to offer Grand Theft Auto V Premium Edition for free as of tomorrow until May 21st.

Update: Epic Games Store officially revealed via Twitter that Grand Theft Auto V will be available for free on the platform until May 21st. The tweet is now unavailable as EGS has deleted it, but here you can check out a captured clip of the announcement teaser:

Original Story: Epic Games Store has offered many big games for free so far as part of its weekly giveaway policy, but the biggest one is probably going to happen tomorrow. Grand Theft Auto V Premium Edition could be in your EGS library for free if the rumors turn out to be true.

Reported by GamePressure, a highly reliable source has informed them that Epic Games Store will be offering Grand Theft Auto V for free as of tomorrow for one week. This means you can grab it for free and keep it forever in your library. While the source’s name has been kept as a secret, no other well-known insider has neither confirmed nor denied the rumor.

It wouldn’t be the first time Rockstar Games and Epic Games making a deal if the rumor turns out to be true. Last year, Red Dead Redemption 2 was launched exclusively for Rockstar Games Launcher and Epic Games Store, one month earlier than its release on any other PC platforms such as Steam. Besides, Grand Theft Auto V has appeared on Xbox Game Pass a few months earlier and removed from the service last week. So, it might be Epic Games’ turn to populate its platform thanks to a great deal with Rockstar Games.

That said, Grand Theft Auto V still shows great performance in the number of sales, despite the fact that it was released nearly six years ago for the current-gen platforms. The game’s constant content update for the online part has kept it alive for a long time, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see many people playing it on the next-gen consoles in the near future.

According to a report by Jason Schreier, Rockstar Games has already started working on the next GTA game, but it’s still in the early stages of development and we’re years away from its launch. However, some other insiders believe that the next GTA will arrive sooner than expected.
