Shocking news for the day: Grand Theft Auto V is out today, and it is going to be huge. That's a given: but exactly how big is GTA V's release going to be in terms of sales?

Luckily, reports and estimates of pre-orders from VGChartz indicate a pretty huge launch that could create a new record holder for launch week sales. According to the data, total worldwide pre-orders for GTA V currently sit at over seven million: 3.7 million for the Xbox 360 version, and leaving another 3.4 million pre-orders for PS3 owners. Likewise, day one sales are expected to be equally insane: the current projected estimate for day one sales sits at around 10 million copies of the game, while growing to 14-15 million units by this weekend during its launch is also not out of the question. That's just insane.

Call of Duty: Black Ops II currently holds the records for these kinds of launch numbers, having sold slightly below 11 million units for Xbox 360 and PS3 during its launch week. However, can GTA V smash those numbers?

We'll have to wait and see, but it's a good bet GTA V will be pulling in some massive numbers today/this week.
