While Gravity Rush 2's online servers were meant to be shut down by the end of January, they will now remain active until July 18 at 10 p.m. PDT.

Sony Interactive Entertainment announced that the game's online functionality was going to end on January 19 back in September. That date was just one year and a day after the game had been released.

Now, however, those same servers will continue to allow players to send and receive challenges, Treasure Hints, Photo Ghosts, and acquire Dusty Tokens. Additionally, the game's leaderboards will remain up.

In light of that announcement back in September, Sony said that they would be increasing the number of Dusty Tokens for all players until online services end. This was particularly important because the costumes and talismans within the game will no longer be able to be acquired once the game's online functionality is shut down.

It is unclear whether or not the shutdown was delayed as a result of fan feedback, though the news came via an in-game announcement. The delayed shutdown is a bittersweet and momentary reversal of Sony's tendency to shut down online servers for games quickly.

Gravity Rush 2 is available now and exclusive to PS4. You can check out our review of the game here, where we awarded it a nearly-perfect score of 9.5.
