Developer Spiders launched their new E3 2018 trailer for GreedFall that gives a dramatic introduction to how the story of the game comes to be as well as introducing how tensions begin to form.
For those that don’t know, GreedFall is an upcoming RPG being published by Focus Home Interactive and finds players in the 17th century. The trailer introduces us to a disease wiping out a large number of people, the protagonist sets out on an adventure to a remote island in hopes of finding a cure. Rumour has it that the island contains a wealth of riches and secrets and the player finds themselves torn between controlling the settlers and the local tribe.
The tribe that inhabits the island are protected by magic and supernatural creatures and the story will find players faced with choices and political decisions that shape the story as well as the relationship between the two factions.
GreedFall is an RPG that offers players various ways of completing quests using diplomacy, combat, or even deception. Players will be able to choose a gender and starting attributes from the off, and then evolve their character from that point on.
They’ll be able to do this by climbing a skill tree among a class-less progression system, creating their own skill combinations with over one-hundred skills to choose from. Weapons and armor can be crafted with the games crafting system, but also work best when combined with whatever playing style and skills the player chooses.
In GreedFall, the two factions can be directed through negotiations and will either keep the peace or wage war depending on how a player communicates with them and grows their reputation. Choices will cause outcomes that can affect the entire island, and any companions that players have will react to choices made, either staying by the player’s side or even turning against them…or become infatuated.
Focus Home Interactive announced their E3 lineup back in 2017 which mentioned GreedFall, but it wasn’t until E3 2017 that a reveal teaser was posted. Check out the new trailer below as well as some lovely looking art.
GreedFall will launch on PS4, Xbox One, and PC in 2019.
