Microsoft's XO event is always filled with some cool reveals, the hype for this one, in particular, has been built up a bit more. With all the information that has "leaked" over the past week, it makes sense. One of which pertained to a new IP by Obsidian Entertainment. Turns out, it was all totally true. Grounded is a survival game by The Outer Worlds developer and is coming in Spring 2020.

The trailer seen below shows some of its gameplay which looks to be a first-person survival game set in a backyard of a random suburban home. At first glance, it gave me Honey, I Shrunk the Kids vibes. You'll scour the oversized environment by yourself or with a group of friends, build shelter, and fight giant ants, spiders, and other creepy crawlies.

Obsidian Entertainment is mostly known for its work with RPGs. Fallout: New Vegas, Pillars of Eternity, and The Outer Worlds are just a few games the studio is known for, all of which are beloved RPGs. Grounded is somewhat of a departure for the studio so it will be interesting to see Obsidian Entertainment's take on the genre.

"Ground is a true passion project for the team," said Obsidian Entertainment CEO Feargus Urquhart. "We pride ourselves as being a creative studio and can't wait to bring our expertise to the survival genre."

Game Director Adam Brennecke adds to Urquhart's remarks. "Grounded offers our unique take on survival games creating an unforgettable experience. It's a perfect setting to flex our creative muscles," says Brennecke. "We want to create a versatile sandbox where players can create their own memorable experiences."

As mentioned, Grounded will be available to play in spring 2020 on Xbox One and PC. It will be available through Xbox Game Pass, as well as Steam early access.
