Grounded Comes to Xbox Game Preview via Game Pass in July
Obsidian's next game Grounded got a new story trailer at Inside Xbox today and is coming to Xbox Game Preview this summer.
Obsidian’s upcoming survival adventure game Grounded made an appearance at today’s Inside Xbox stream. After the success of their game The Outer Worlds last year, Obsidian’s stock is riding high. This next game looks to give us a completely new setting, as it appears to take tons of visual inspiration from Honey, I Shrunk the Kids. And, if you’re an Xbox Game Pass member, you don’t have to wait long to check it out. In addition to the new story trailer, the team revealed that Grounded is coming to Xbox Game Preview and Steam Early Access on July 28. Give the new trailer a watch below.
In Grounded you and up to three friends can play together as humans who have been shrunken down to the size of an ant. The story trailer focuses on the single-player experience, but the co-operative multiplayer mode sounds equally fun. Obsidian is using its early access period to gather community feedback. Which should help make the multi-player side of things as good as possible.
It’s great to see a renowned developer like Obsidian playing in such an untapped setting. Sure, giant spiders and bugs are a common enemy in RPGs, but it’s not often we see you shrunk down to their size. There’s a lot of potential for fun hijinks within this setting. Plus, the ominous sci-fi structures you can see at the end of the trailer point to their being more than meets the eye to this backyard.
Grounded comes to Xbox Game Preview on July 28. It will be available on Xbox One and PC via either the Windows 10 store or Steam. No word yet on full release. The team is actually running a gameplay live stream today if you’d like to check it out.
