The 2013 indie hit Guacamelee! introduced players to a colorful and vibrant world inspired by Mexican culture and combined it with challenging Metroidvania gameplay, and now its long-awaited sequel, Guacamelee! 2, is officially set to bring players back in to the ring next month.

Developer DrinkBox Studios has announced that Guacamelee! 2 will release for PS4 and PC on August 21st, 2018 for $19.99. Pre-orders for the game on PS4 are available now, while those on PC can now add the game to their Steam Wish List ahead of its release.

As a follow-up to the original 2013 game, Guacamelee! 2 will see the game's protagonist, Juan Aguacate, come out of retirement to stop "a powerful and ruthless luchador who has emerged as the ruler of a parallel timeline," and once again donning his signature luchador mask and tights to take on a new threat across the worlds of the living and the dead.

Alongside the new storyline, Guacamelee! 2 will also bring along with it plenty of new moves and abilities for players to utilize, a new upgrade system, and support for up to four players in local drop-in/drop-out co-op multiplayer.
