It seems as though layoffs will, unfortunately, be hitting another studio soon, this time at Guild Wars 2 developer ArenaNet.

As reported by Kotaku, Songyee Yoon, the CEO of publisher NCSoft West which owns ArenaNet, sent an e-mail out to employees today sharing the news that the studio would soon need to reorganize due to declining profits. "Our live game business revenue is declining as our franchises age, delays in development on PC and mobile have created further drains against our revenue projects, while our operating costs in the west have increased. Where we are is not sustainable, and is not going to set us up for future success," Yoon said in the e-mail.

Yoon went on to describe more of the reorganization process and said that ArenaNet and NCSoft's publishing side would be merging as a result. As of this writing, it is still unknown just how many employees will potentially be laid off at ArenaNet. As of now, the company currently boasts about 400 workers in total.

Kotaku also reports that one of the main reasons for these layoffs could be arriving is due to slow development on a variety of unannounced projects at the studio. This combined with the fact that ArenaNet hasn't released many new products over the past few years has led to financial struggles at the company.

This situation is currently in flux and more information will likely be provided soon. When we hear more, we'll let you know.

Our best goes out to those at ArenaNet who may be affected.
