The Holiday Season Has Arrived in Guild Wars 2 as It Celebrates Wintersday

The holiday season has truly arrived in Guild Wars 2 and in celebration, the MMORPG title is holding a Wintersday event that starts for free today

Guild Wars 2 are getting into the festive spirit of the holiday season by holding an event called Wintersday and it has already landed in Tyria today. This has been a fixed tradition in Guild Wars and this time, you can enjoy the Christmas feel all the way through to January 2nd, 2019.

If you’re new to Guild Wars 2 and wondering what this is all about, then allow me to fill you in. Wintersday includes a variety of surprises, from ice castle-themed guild hall decoration pieces and the “Secret Lair of the Snowmen,” to unique rewards that include wintergreen-themed weapons, candy cane themed weaponry, several new mini pets, and rare items from the Wintersday gift boxes. Sounds like the ideal Christmas morning to me.

Of course, with it being Christmas and all you have to include some festive activities lined up too:

  • The Winter Wonderland jumping puzzle
  • Mount races through Divinity’s Reach
  • Toypocalypse: Band together with other players to defend gift-bearing dolyaks against an onslaught of malfunctioning toys
  • Tixx’s Infinirarium: Enter and help the jolly Toymaker Tixx prepare to share the wonder of Wintersday with all of Tyria
  • Bell Choir: Take center stage and make beautiful music to celebrate the season
  • Snowball Mayhem: Gather as many gifts as possible in this PvP snowball fight

In September, Guild Wars 2 celebrated their sixth anniversary and teamed up with Kung Fu Tea in a special, although a little strange, promotion. They did also make a video called Living World which detailed the long-running titles past and what the future may look like for them.

Guild Wars 2 is available to purchase on PC and the new Wintersday content is free to all players of the game.

Below you’ll find a few screenshots to check out of the Wintersday event that’s happening right now:
