Mobile Suit Gundam The Witch from Mercury release date first details

Mobile Suit Gundam The Witch From Mercury is a TV anime series releasing in 2022. It's the first TV series in the Gundam franchise since Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans (Tekketsu no Orphans) aired in 2015.

Seeing there is no existing manga or novel spinoff with the name The Witch from Mercury, it's highly likely The Witch of Mercury will be a brand new Alternate Universe (AU) original story. As in, a standalone Gundam anime with no direct relation to past or future Gundam shows. In other words, Gundam The Witch From Mercury would be newcomer-friendly.

For now, we have no staff detail. Every original Gundam show is helmed by different core staff. With the director, scriptwriter, character designer, and all major positions changing between each work. Additional information will be coming at a later date. For now, a teaser page was opened with a logo. The official abbreviation for the series is G Witch.

Gundam Cucuruz Doan's Island anime movie announced

Mobile Suit Gundam Cucuruz Doan's Island is originally the title of episode 15 of the first Mobile Suit Gundam series from 1979. A manga expending the backstory of this episode's events was also published from 2017 to 2019 in five volumes. There is a plethora of Gundam manga and novel spinoffs like this that never leave Japan until they get animated.

The story of the manga focused on the Principality of Zeon's Y-02 Development and Training Team after its commander Cucuruz Doan has deserted. It's a spinoff of the Gundam The Origin manga series that retraces events predating the first Gundam series.

The Cucuruz Doan's Island manga was drawn by the mangaka Junji Oono, with character designs by Tsukasa Kotobuki. The anime movie version of Cucuruz Doan's Island is releasing in 2022 and will be directed by legendary director Yoshikazu Yasuhiko, also known as Yas.

At 73 years old, Yoshikazu Yasuhiko is also both an amazing writer and illustrator and was the character designer of the original Gundam series in 1979. A teaser site was opened too. Overall, Cucuruz Doan's Island is geared toward veteran Gundam fans. It's likely the movie will adapt both the manga, the original TV episode, and add in new elements.

Gundam Iron Blooded Orphans (IBO) Urðr Hunt TV specials trailer revealed

Last but not least, Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans is back with a new TV special series, Urðr Hunt.

Mobile Suit Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Urðr Hunt will be a spinoff series helmed by some of the staff of the original IBO. It will be partly shown through nine TV special episodes to be broadcast in 2022.

Gundam IBO Urðr Hunt is originally a spinoff mobile game currently in development. It's encompassed into another smartphone game in development titled Mobile Suit Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans G. This game will be released in 2022 in Japan, and the TV anime specials will be aired simultaneously.

Personally speaking, I'm pretty excited to see what Gundam The Witch from Mercury will be like. I've been into Gundam for over 20 years now, but I must say I'm not a huge fan of most of the recent TV series. The only Gundam TV shows I've really appreciated these past ten years were G Reco and the first season of Build Fighters. Anyway, what do you guys think of all this Gundam anime news?
