Gunman Clive HD Collection Brings Two Great 3DS Indie Games to Switch Later this Month

Gunman Clive HD Collection will finally be releasing for Nintendo Switch on January 17, according to developer Bertil Hörberg.

I have a weird unconditional love for the Gunman Clive games. Even though they are both short and quite simple, I couldn’t help but be hooked by both of them, especially my first time through. I’ve somehow sunk over 25 hours in the first Gunman Clive, a game that can be in just about an hour even if it’s your first time through. Because of how much I like the games, I’m happy to see that Gunman Clive HD Collection is coming to Nintendo Switch in just under two weeks.

For those of you who may not have heard about this collection, it bundles together both the original Gunman Clive and Gunman Clive 2, upscales the 3DS games to HD, and adds Chieftain Bob to the first game as a playable character. According to Bertil Hörberg, creator of the Gunman Clive series, this Nintendo Switch version will just be a simple port of the Wii U collection that released in 2015.

Interestingly, Bertil Hörberg says he has been sitting on this near-complete Nintendo Switch port for nearly two years, but never finished it. After being re-motivated to complete the port recently, he put the final touches on the Nintendo Switch version of the game and submitted it to Nintendo of America’s Lotcheck program that’s required for all games. Gunman Clive HD Collection for Nintendo Switch successfully made it through the process and will now be releasing for the hybrid console on January 17 for only $3.99.

If, like me, you already own Gunman Clive and its sequel on PC, 3DS, or Wii U and aren’t interested in this Switch port, Hörberg Productions still has another game coming. While we don’t know very much about the game outside of the fact that it features a mech and that it is being developed for Nintendo Switch, Gunman Clive creator Bertil Hörberg did recently claim on Twitter that the game is entering the “final stages of production.”
