The Gunslinger Stratos series is a rather odd phenomenon, at least if you don’t consider the fact that Japan is one of the few countries in which arcades are still very popular. Despite the success of its arcade games, that even led to an anime series, Square Enix never ported it to consoles (unlike Dissidia Final Fantasy, for instance).

Counting several games in just five short years, it’s approaching its 5th anniversary on July 13th, and to celebrate Gunslinger Stratos 3 is getting new content.

First of all, we’ll get a new level based around Osaka’s iconic Tsutenkaku Tower, while in the fall a new character will be added.

His name is Alex Thunderbolt, an he is voiced by Norio Wakamoto, who many will know as Cell in Dragon Ball Z, Johnny in the Guilty Gear series, and basically a gazillion of anime characters.

Below you can check out videos introducing both, even if nothing much is shown of Alex Thunderbolt.
