Some of the most realistic soccer games of the generation have released this month. PES 2020 and FIFA 20 are both solid games with deep gameplay, realistic (ish) game modes, and life-like visuals. Guts 'N Goals is super not that. Developer CodeManu is instead tapping into the hectic, fast-paced world of arcade soccer, and taken it a step further by giving all the players cricket bats to beat each other with. Check it out below.

Guts 'N Goals is an online multiplayer soccer game that throws much of the real-life game's rulebook out the window. Instead, you're given a bat and give free rein to beat either the ball, your teammates or the oppositions you play your way to victory. The game is a wacky, completely over the top arcade romp. After playing nearly 100 hours of FIFA 20 and PES 2020 combined this month, this seems like the perfect time for Guts 'N Goals to be announced.

There's something so incredibly fun about arcade sports games that are really missing in the modern video game space. In the past, we had great games like NBA Street, Sega Soccer Slam, and NHL Hitz. These titles dropped the facade of realism and just focused on making a fun video game. I'm hoping Guts 'N Goals has a similar approach. The idea of a soccer match with characters that have special superpowers is incredibly appealing.

Guts 'N Goals is coming to PC via early access at some point in 2019. After which, the developer plans to bring the game out of early access after about a year of development.
