This weekend marks the first ever Gwent: The Witcher Card Game Challenger Tournament, with a prize pool of $100,000

As a consequence, the competitive play format for tournaments was announced today by developer CD Projekt RED:

-Players must create four decks with no two being from the same faction

-Each player will ban one of their opponents decks in secret

-The players will then choose one their remaining three decks to use for their first match

-Winning decks cannot be used to play another match while losing ones may be used again or swapped out for other matches

-Matches are played in a best-of-five format meaning that to defeat an opponent players must use each of their three decks a single time

-The final will see the top eight players compete in a single elimination format with victors playing on until a grand prize winner is determined

You can check out a video introducing the format below.

Gwent is currently in open beta on PC and Xbox One.
