GWENT: The Witcher Card Game is a spin-off from CD Projekt Red's popular Witcher series. The card game is based on a  mini-game of the same name from 2015's Witcher 3; however, this version adds quite a bit to the experience. GWENT has been out on PC, PS4, and Xbox One for quite a while, but the move to mobile should open up a brand-new audience. Check out the short trailer for the upcoming iOS release below.

It's kind of surprising that GWENT is just now making it's way to iOS. Even as a mini-game in Witcher 3, it seemed primed to be a solid option for players looking for a new card game. The Hearthstone parallels are obviously there, and that game has impressed on mobile devices. I would expect GWENT to do the same as long as CD Projekt Red can get the touch controls feeling smooth.

The iOS release will bring over the full feature set from the PC version. In fact, your progress and purchases are shared between iOS and PC. Unfortunately, that doesn't carry over to the PS4 and Xbox One versions of those games. Console players will have to start over from scratch when they boot up the iOS version. That said, the game will support cross-play between all the various ways to play.

GWENT: The Witcher Card Game will come to iOS on October 29. The game will be available on both iPad and iPhone. They have not announced an Android version; however, I would be surprised if a release isn't forthcoming. I mean, Hearthstone has over 10 million Google Play installs. They'd be silly not to tap into that market.
