Today, Daybreak Games announced via press release new information regarding a console port of H1Z1.

According to the developer, the free-to-play battle royale title is coming to PlayStation 4. Before it officially launches on Sony's eighth generation system, gamers will get a chance to play H1Z1 in the form of an open beta, which will commence on Tuesday, May 22. While closed betas for H1Z1 are set to begin later this month with sign-ups now open for those interested in participating.

Of course, the forthcoming PlayStation 4 version of H1Z1 is so much more than a simple rehash of a PC game brought to consoles. Aside from adding all the new content introduced in the official release earlier this year, the PlayStation 4 version also introduces new features, including a new weapon progression system, revised UI, as well as a lovely selection of new weapons and gear.

Additionally, Daybreak Games refined H1Z1's controls to make the game a lot more fluid with retooled controls and new features that make the game a natural fit for console gamers. The notable fast-paced combat is slightly amped up while the airdrop system has been redefined to keep the intensity alive per match. As a bonus, those that own a PlayStation 4 Pro will be able to run the game at 60 frames-per-second.

Finally, although the game is a free-to-play game, pre-orders for H1Z1 are available and contains several unique in-game cosmetic items for you to use along with a dynamic theme available at the time of purchase. Those who pre-order the game before May 22, 2018, will have access to these items when the Open Beta begins. On top of that, those with an active PlayStation Plus membership will receive 20% off their pre-order.
