Indie developer Piece of Cake Studios announced today that its 2-player co-op stealth game Hacktag is now available on PC via Steam Early Access. Alongside the games official release announcement we also received a new launch trailer, which can be seen below.

Hacktag is a two player stealth game that features asymmetric gameplay. In the game, players will assume one of two roles; the stealth agent or the hacker. When playing as the stealth agent you will have to move silently through the level, infiltrating the area while your partner works behind the scenes to unlock doors and grant you access to new areas. When playing as the hacker, you are given a different viewpoint of the map which allows you to hack computers and alarm systems, granting your partner access to areas they cant get to on their own.

The game features both online and local multiplayer, so you can play separately or share the same screen in split screen mode. The game also features a single player option for those that want to be assisted by a NPC as their partner.

Since the game is launching via Early Access, the developers have stated that they will be adding more levels outside of the games 9 included levels. As the game currently stands, players will get to experience the core gameplay mechanics of Hacktag with periodic free updates coming in the future. Future plans for the game include more maps and the inclusion of player generated maps, which should allow for an infinite selection of levels to play through.

Marine Lemaitre, Piece of Cake Studios co-founder had this to say in regards to the future of Hacktag:

Hacktag is an original concept with a challenging asymetrical gameplay which requires thorough testing and iteration. We’re counting on players feedback through suggestions and surveys during the early access to go even further with the game.”

Other features included in the game are; customization options for players to alter their appearance, unlockable active and passive skills for both the hacker and stealth agent, online challenges, rankings and leaderboards. Latly, the game will feature a unique story for each player to enjoy.

Hacktag is currently available on PC via Steam Early Access for $14.99. Those that purchase the game now until June 8 will receive a 25% off discount, bringing the game to $11.24.
