Hajimari no Kiseki Screenshots Found on NIS America Website Possibly Hint at Localization Announcement [Update]

Either by luck or by fate, one of our resident Trails gurus stumbled on a potential tease of the localization of Hajimari no Kiseki on NIS America's site.

January 28, 2021

[UPDATE] It appears that the images previously believed to be potential accidental teases on the NIS America site are in-fact thumbnails grabbed from the official Falcom YouTube channel after the usual background video failed to load. The original story is included below.

Screenshots and material for The Legend of Heroes: Hajimari no Kiseki have appeared on NIS America’s website due to an apparent glitch, potentially teasing an upcoming localization announcement.

While reading up on NIS America’s upcoming Ys IX: Monstrum Nox, the usual background video that would play in the “World” section of the game’s official page instead featured a collage of screenshots, most of which not from Ys IX, but instead from Hajimari no Kiseki. What is important though about this, is that Hajimari no Kiseki has NOT been announced for localization in the West, making these potentially the first hint that NIS America is getting set to reveal a localization announcement.

The Legend of Heroes: Hajimari no Kiseki, which released last year in Japan and Asia on PS4, picks up a few months after the ending of The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel 4 and serves as a bridge between the previous story arcs of the series and those to come. The West only got Trails of Cold Steel 4 last Fall on PS4, with the PC and Switch releases coming this year, so this possible tease is exciting for fans like myself who are drooling for a localization announcement.  Check out our review for Trails of Cold Steel 4 and if you have already beaten the game, give a listen to our discussion on the game’s ending, featuring Kris Cornelisse and myself.

Why Ratchet & Clank is the Most Important PS5 Game

Attempts to duplicate the glitch that caused this to happen on other PCs haven’t been successful yet, but if a method is discovered (before NIS America figures it out and removes it) we will update this story and let you know.

In Japan, Falcom has also announced the next game in the Trails / Kiseki series, titled The Legend of Heroes: Kuro no Kiseki. A few details have been revealed so far, but Kuro no Kiseki has no platforms or release date announced yet, besides “2021” in Japan.

Lastly, Ys IX: Monstrum Nox will be releasing on PS4 next week, on February 2 in North America and on February 5 in Europe. The action JRPG is also coming to Switch and PC later this year on an undisclosed date. A demo of Ys IX is also available on PS4. You can read more on Ys IX: Monstrum Nox with our past coverage.
