Half-Life: Alyx Releases on March 23
Valve has finally announced when fans will be able to return to the world of Half-Life next month.
Previously only confirmed to have a broad release window of March 2020, Valve today announced the formal release date for the studio’s VR title Half-Life: Alyx.
Announced with a very simple message via Valve’s Twitter, it was stated that Half-Life: Alyx will at long last be launching next month on March 23, 2020. This will mark the first time since Half-Life 2: Episode 2 that Valve will have released a project set in this universe. It’s almost strange to finally have a release date for a new Half-Life game, but it’s also incredibly exciting.

While there has been some pushback from fans about making Half-Life: Alyx a game that can only be played entirely in VR, those who have played the game have said nothing but great things about it. Even though the opinions of the general public could differ, it seems like this is a game worth being excited about.
In addition to announcing the launch date of Alyx, this date also signals just how long Valve will be making the Half-Life series free-to-play on Steam. In case you missed it, Valve is currently running a promotion for the Half-Life titles that allows anyone to download and play all of the games in the franchise completely free of charge. Previously, we only knew that this promotion would be running until the launch of Alyx, which at the time was obviously unknown. Now, we know that this promotion will wrap up on the 23rd, so get to playing if you haven’t already.
Half-Life: Alyx will release exclusively on Steam when it arrives on March 23 and will be compatible with Valve Index, Oculus Rift, HTV Vive, and Windows Mixed Reality headsets at launch.
