While the list of Xbox Play Anywhere games continues to grow, there are still games that support and thrive from their independent platform audiences. Now, just like Rocket League, Halo Wars 2 will support Xbox One and PC crossplay.
The announcement was made as a part of their November 2 patch notes, which also outline several other improvements as well as what players can expect to be able to play with their cross-platform friends.
To begin, crossplay will be supported in Campaign, Terminus Firefight, Custom Games, Blitz Firefight, and unranked playlists, while all other playlists will stay segregated. 343 Industries acknowledged the desire of players to play on different platforms, but it is clear that they are respecting the differences that make each one great. Whereas Rocket League is more competitive between keyboard and mouse and controllers, Halo Wars 2 plays much faster on the PC.
There is, however, still a playlist in which you can see this difference first hand: a new playlist titled “Ranked 3v3 X War” is going to be added that supports crossplay. So players will still have the chance to duke it out in the ole’ console vs. PC war.
Additionally, 343 Industries has added 4k Ultra HD and HDR support for the game on the Xbox One X.
