We Happy Few is due out in early August and ahead of its release, Compulsion Games has finally revealed the third playable character for the game.
Arthur Hastings is the first playable character that will be available for play in We Happy Few. Compulsion describes Arthur as “utterly unremarkable” and he fills the role of a sort of everyday citizen. When Arthur goes off of his Joy though, — the drug that makes everyone “happy” — Arthur is chased out of his cushy life and must survive by sneaking and fighting.
Whitney Clayton, Art Director for We Happy Few talked about this new character by saying, “Arthur was inspired by the archetypal, awkward bureaucrat: the paper-pushing everyman. It was important that he looked bookish and cerebral, hence the crimped hair and glasses; while his long limbs and exaggerated features are meant to evoke something similar to stop-motion character design.”
As Arthur continues to advance in the story, he will eventually come across Sally and Ollie, the other two playable characters of We Happy Few. Sally was originally revealed as playable earlier in the year while Ollie was highlighted in the E3 trailer for We Happy Few last month.
You won’t have to wait much longer to play as Arthur, Ollie, and Sally as We Happy Few is due out in just a few more weeks on August 10. While Microsoft might have recently purchased Compulsion Games, We Happy Few will be published by Gearbox Publishing and will be arriving on Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
