Cuphead is a game that has built a reputation for itself for being a fantastic platformer, and being one of the hardest videogames ever released. With the title first released on Xbox and then onto other platforms further down the line, everyone can now experience the pain and suffering that each level brings.

Due to the success of the game, the Delicious Last Course DLC was released and added a new set of difficult bosses for you to take on if you're up for the challenge. With the 2-D platformer having over 20 different bosses, you’re probably wondering which ones are the hardest to go up against.

10 Hilda Berg

Cuphead Hilda Berg

Out of all the bosses that are within the first isle, Hilda Berg proves to be the hardest one. It’s an airplane level, so you’ll have to be able to successfully maneuver yourself around her attacks. It’ll take you a couple of tries in order to learn it, so if you fail, don’t beat yourself up too much.

The hardest part is her transformation as she starts to throw everything at you like stars, missiles, and rays of light. If you know how and when to parry her attacks, you’ll find yourself taking her down in no time.

9 Baroness Von Bon Bon

Cuphead Baron Von Bon Bon

Baroness Von Bon Bon is a fight that will have you putting down the controller to go outside and get some fresh air. She herself isn’t that hard to defeat as she mainly sits in her little candy and cake fortress. The minions that she sends out are a completely different story.

Every one of them comes out sporadically, and you have to learn their attack patterns which is a difficult task. Which one comes out is random, so you might not even get one that you’ve seen before and get a minion that infuriates you. Fingers crossed you get someone easy.

8 Captain Brineybeard

Cuphead Captain Brineybeard

Captain Brineybeard isn’t a boss that’s necessarily hard due to his attacks, but he’s just annoying. This level has you constantly dodging and weaving through projectiles while also trying to simultaneously shoot at Captain Brineybeard’s ship. Trying to do both at the same time is challenging, and it may feel like you can’t do both.

This level takes practice and patience with yourself in order to be successful. You could always get a friend to join you on this one to split up who does what, but keep in mind that always raises the difficulty level a little.

7 Moonshine Mob

Moonshine Mob

Taking a look at the Delicious Last Course DLC, we have the Moonshine Mob. There are three main enemies that you have to defeat here, and they throw everything that they have at you. It really does make you feel like you’re being ambushed by the mob as they can easily catch you off guard.

The level itself is unique, and each character has their own set of attacks to defeat you. Rage aside, the level design is creative as well throwing it back to the Prohibition era. A final word of advice, if you think you beat them…don’t stop shooting.

6 Cala Maria

Cuphead Cala Maria

Don’t let her looks fool you, Cala Maria is an absolute menace to go against. Her first phase may feel like a cakewalk as you easily dodge her projectiles, but she soon kicks it up a notch and really lets loose against you. Her sea creature minions come to her defense in packs and will do anything to protect her.

Not only that, but Cala Maria will also turn you into stone making you immobile for a second or two. During this state, you can’t move, and you just have to hope you have enough health to take a hit. If not, it’s game over buddy.

5 Grim Matchstick

Cuphead Grim Matchstick

Grim Matchstick is a boss that is the definition of going 0 to 100 real quick. The first phase has you dodging his fireballs and his dashes which can be a challenge, but nothing that you can’t handle. Considering he is a second-isle boss you’ve been doing it this whole time. However, his second and third phases will literally leave you in ashes.

His attack patterns become randomized making it near impossible to memorize everything that he’ll throw at you. Not only that, but you’ll find it confusing jumping from cloud to cloud in order to avoid his attacks as they blend in with the background causing you to jump to your death.

4 Chef Saltbaker

Cuphead Chef Saltbaker

The hardest boss of the Delicious Last Course DLC has to go to Chef Saltbaker. This chef isn’t cooking everything with love, only pain, and suffering. Not only is he downright creepy, but his attack patterns get even more sporadic as time goes on. Given that he’s the final boss it only makes sense.

Unless you’re a pro at finishing Cuphead levels, it might take you a day or two to beat this boss, especially in his last phase. Just know that in order to vanquish this foe you’re going to need patience and nerves of steel.

3 The Phantom Express

Cuphead The Phantom Express

The Phantom Express isn’t a train ride that you’d want to find yourself on. It’s incredibly creative in its design and gameplay, but of course, that just makes it harder. Not only are you dodging attacks left and right on this ghost train, but you also have to manage a trolley in the process in order to stay alive.

Being stuck on the trolley restricts your movement and gives you little space to work with. If you fall off it's game over. It's excruciating and will have you sending your controller through your TV.

2 King Dice

Cuphead King Dice

King Dice is nothing but pure RNG as whether you survive or not is based on luck. In reality, it makes sense since the level itself is modeled after a casino. In order to determine what happens to you, you’ll have to “roll” the dice and see what space you land on.

You’ll have to fight a minimum of three different bosses which can be difficult and that’s only if you get lucky. A lot of spaces can really put you in a bad spot and one of them can have you start all over. So make sure you wear your lucky pair of socks when you play this one.

1 Dr. Kahl’s Robot

Cuphead Dr. Kahl’s Robot

Dr. Kahl’s Robot is THE hardest boss in all of Cuphead. At the very start of the boss, it feels like you’re set up to lose right away. This level has to feel like it was intended to be a bullet hell because that’s what it is. Everything is thrown at you all at once from magnets to gears, and you’ll simultaneously have lasers shot at you.

Not only that, but the robot transforms making the attacks come at a faster rate. In order to beat this, you’ll always have to be one step ahead and plan out your parries and look for any opportunity to dodge an attack without running into another one. This level will really have you rethinking your life choices.
