August 3, 2022

Square Enix has released new information on their life simulation RPG, Harvestella, which was announced at the last Nintendo Mini direct, courtesy of Famitsu. In the latest report, Square Enix released new details about the spring town “Nemea”, unique spring harvests and cuisine, the character Istina, adventures, jobs, character stories, life, fishing and shipping.

The plot of Harvestella revolves around Quietus, a seasonal disaster that threatens all life. The world is composed of four towns with different themes centered around the four seasons. The first one is Nemea town, where cherry trees bloom all year round due to the blessing of the Seaslights, the four crystals that govern the seasons. There is an orphanage located there, and many children live in it, and at night, the cherry blossoms dance with a different elegance, giving the town a different look from the daytime scenery.

A huge egg appeared in the spring Seaslights, and since then unfamiliar monsters flew from the egg and attacked the town residents. The main character of Harvestella who visits the city will investigate the case with Azir, a member of the vigilante group. The character Istina, an intelligent and quiet teacher at the orphanage will also join the quest for the sake of her children. She loves reading books to them, but she has a hidden past she will come to face when she meets the main character.

There are jobs in Harvestella that can allow you to handle unique weapons and acquire specific skills. By befriending a character with that job, the main character will be able to use that job as well. Other important characters who participate in the battles as companions will also have their own character stories and problems they need to face. As the player progresses and gets more intimate with them, they will receive various benefits and rewards.

As Harvestella is a simulation game, players will be able to harvest crops unique to the spring season such as tomatos and strawberries, as well as enjoy special cuisines like nemea bolognese and strawberry shortcake. There is also a fishing minigame where you can catch various types of fish and upgrade your rod, and you can also process the products you make or harvest and ship them for set prices.

Harvestella arrives on Nintendo Switch and Steam on November 4th, 2022. Preorders are now available only on PC.
