A Hat in Time released late last year on PC, Xbox One, and PS4 after having been a Kickstarter title a few years prior.

Today, developer and publisher Gears for Breakfast announced via Twitter that platformer has now hit 500,000 units sold across all platforms. "From all of us at @GearsBreakfast, thank you to the fans, this wouldn't be possible without you!!!" the tweet read alongside the announcement.

Currently, Gears for Breakfast is working on DLC for A Hat in Time, though they have yet to reveal just what this additional content will entail or when it will release. Of this future content, they also stated in the same tweet, "We can't wait to show you what we have in store for our DLC and beyond!!"

I reviewed A Hat in Time last year when it released on consoles and while I came in a bit lower with my own score compared to its Metacritic average, I found that it accomplished exactly what Gears for Breakfast set out to do which is create a new platformer in the stylings of yesteryear. Regardless of my own opinion on the game though, I'm so happy to see a developer the size of Gears for Breakfast find success with A Hat in Time. I cannot wait to see what they do next.
