Hearthstone continues to be the gold standard when it comes to online card games.

The title released in 2014 and has gone on to become one of the most played games, year on year, with core players building decks and collecting cards from a range of different sets.

The latest set, Forged in the Barrens, contains 135 new cards and is the first new expansion released in 2021, the Year of the Gryphon.

The cards are due for release today, but what is the Hearthstone new expansion release time?

What's new in the Forged in the Barrens expansion?

As with all Hearthstone expansions, the game is about to be shaken up.

As stated, the set introduces a whopping 135 new cards, some of which look incredibly powerful and are sure to have a big impact on Hearthstone's meta.

Alongside this, Forged in the Barrens introduces a new keyword into the mix. Known as Frenzy, cards with this keyword will trigger "a powerful effect the first time they survive damage!"

All of Hearthstone's classes will also gain access to a new ranked spell. This spell card grows in strength, each time the player reaches 5 and 10 Mana Crystals.

Finally, the expansion adds a new mechanic, titled Spell Schools. This mechanic adds synergies between different cards and helps to add "a new layer of depth" to the player's collections.
