In Blizzard’s latest Hearthstone expansion Journey to Un’Goro there are 135 new cards. Players have expressed frustration with Blizzard on forums and on Reddit saying that there are far too many duplicates when opening the new card packs.
A redditor who goes by the name Seaserpent02 used data from 1,101 pack openings to write code in Python that could determine the approximate amount of card packs it would take to get the entirety of the Journey to Un’Goro set.
The minimum number of packs it took to complete the set based on the code was 214, and the maximum was 437 packs. The average number here being about 316 packs when all the math is done. 316 packs, if bought in bundles, would cost players roughly $399.92 in total.
The redditor also gave players access to the source code that was used, it can be found here.
Players planning to collect all 135 of the new expansion’s cards for free should definitely start grinding. There are 49 commons, 36 rares, 27 epics, and 23 legendaries in total for players to collect.
Blizzard’s latest Hearthstone expansion was released in the Americas on April 6 while other territories followed on April 7. This release also starts the new year in Hearthstone that Blizzard’s calling “The Year of the Mammoth.”
