During The Game Awards tonight, Xbox Game Studios announced that a sequel to Hellblade is now in development by Ninja Theory.

Hellblade II: Senua’s Saga is the name of the next entry in the series and it is being developed now exclusively for Microsoft’s newly announced Xbox Series X platform. Ninja Theory revealed this new title via a brief trailer that was in-engine and showed off the power of the next-gen console. In short, it looked relatively incredible, especially in regards to the animation work in the trailer.

As of now, Microsoft hasn’t said when Hellblade II is slated to release, but considering this was the first game they were willing to show off for Xbox Series X (outside of Halo Infinite) it stands to reason that it might release relatively soon in proximity to the next-gen console.

You can check out the reveal trailer for Hellblade II: Senua’s Saga down below. We’ll likely hear a lot more on this upcoming game in the coming year, so stay tuned.
