Ninja Theory’s Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice became critically acclaimed upon its PS4 release last year. While gameplay impressions varied, people agreed that the game was able to tell a very chilling, emotional, and interesting story about mental illness. The game has since sold over 1 million copies and come to Xbox One. Today, we learned that Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice will be getting a retail release on December 4.
Physical copies of Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice will be available for both PS4 and Xbox One. The box art, which you can see above, features the titular character as well as some of the rewards that the game has received. The PS4 physical release is being published by 505 Games, a publisher known for titles like Laser League and Remedy’s upcoming Control.
Meanwhile, Microsoft will be handling the physical release of Hellbalde: Senua’s Sacrifice on Xbox One. In case you don’t remember, Microsoft actually acquired Ninja Theory back in June alongside four other studios. While it’s isn’t surprising that they aren’t publishing the physical PS4 release, it is still nice to see that they are allowing Ninja Theory to release it via another publisher as that isn’t common within the industry.
Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice is currently available digitally on PC, PS4, and Xbox One, and will also be available physically for consoles starting December 4. You can also check out DualShockers’ review to see our thoughts on the game.
