During Nintendo's Direct back in February, it was announced that Ninja Theory's Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice would be coming to the Switch in spring but at the moment, we didn't have an exact date. As of today, that has now changed.

Ninja Theory announced the release date for Hellblade on Switch and it's a lot sooner than you might think. The critically-acclaimed title is set to make its arrival on Switch next week on April 11. For those looking to pick the game up, it will set you back $29.99.

If you haven't played Hellblade before, it finds you in the shoes of the character Senua as she travels through the world looking to find the soul of her now dead partner. In the process, she has to deal with her mental health issues stemming from psychosis.

In our own review of Hellblade from 2017, we awarded the game a very rare 10/10 score. The review itself stated Hellblade is a "stunning tale of one woman's struggle to grasp reality and save her lost love from death." Following the success of Hellblade, Microsoft later announced at E3 in 2018 that it had acquired Ninja Theory and that moving forward it would be developing new first-party titles for the company.

If you haven't played Hellblade yet and you're looking to pick it up next week on Switch, I really can't recommend it enough. The only suggestion I have before playing is that you need to make sure you play with headphones on. I also think this is one you might want to play in docked mode on Switch rather than handheld. Trust me on both of these points and you'll surely have quite the experience.
