Amazon is reportedly in the final stages of locking down a Warhammer 40K TV show with Henry Cavill to star and produce in the show, according to a report from The Hollywood Reporter.

According to the report, Amazon is entering the final stages of months-long negotiations to acquire the rights to begin production on this show. As the show is still a ways away from being fully into production, nothing is public about who is involved beyond Cavill. The ex-Superman star is a known fan of Warhammer 40K, often seen painting his own minis, touring Warhammer World, and potentially sinking hundreds of hours into Total War: Warhammer III.

On his Instagram, Cavill has also talked about his interest in the complex lore of Warhammer 40K. He has been shown to dive fully into whatever project he is working on, setting high expectations for what he will bring to the table for this show. While sadly, he has fewer projects he's currently working on, this may free him to focus more on the incredibly complex universe of 40K and its incredible possibility for storytelling.

This news comes shortly after it was announced Cavill would not be returning as Superman in the new DC universe led by James Gunn. Despite his official announcement online back in October and the green light from the old DC team, plans have since changed under the new leadership to shift towards a focus on a younger Superman movie not starring Cavill. Cavill took to Instagram to officially announce the news to his fans news, which has been met with mixed reactions.

Following his announcement to return as Superman, Cavill later informed fans he would be stepping away from The Witcher TV show following its upcoming third season. The exact reasons for his departure were not stated, but many believed it was to free himself up to focus more on his role as Superman. Thankfully, we will see him as the White Wolf one more time in Season 3 before the mantle is passed on to Liam Hemsworth.

While the deal with Amazon to acquire the Warhammer license is not finalized yet, it is in the final stages and may see Warhammer 40K being added to the growing list of shows on Prime Video.
