The developers have justified the absence of firearms, by stating that there are no skilled people left in the game's world to make these firearms. As a result, crafting weapons on your own is everything you need to rely upon. While this could be a bummer for many fans out there, it should be noted that you shouldn't be disheartened by this at all. The reason for that is that the game does boast a massive list of weapons, despite lacking firearms.

In fact, the developers had noted that the game had over 200 weapons, which is massive for even a game of this scale. While different weapons have different durability, all of them break eventually, so you need to be using a lot of different weapons from time to time in your entire journey.
