His evil character transformation was done to the point where he didn't bother killing the woman he loved and her son. Here's How Pat Rollins Survived

Despite being charged by the killing attacks by Dion and his mother Nicole, Pat still managed to survive because the major portion of the attacks affected the Crooked Man and not Pat. In fact, the attack helped him become a normal person by separating the Lightning Man from his body.

Pat explains in the series that after being attacked by the lightning rod, he could feel all the molecules from his body being torn apart. And then it took almost a complete day to reform his body back. It also means that the attacks forced the Crooked Man to leave Pat's body, which made him suffer immense pain and feel like he was torn apart.

While Crooked Man was separating from Pat's body, he kept flying in the sky with no sense of being alive. During that time, Pat mainly remained unconscious, and he finally came to his senses and found himself alive.
