Hideo Kojima Reveals His Favorite Films of 2018
As a lifelong film lover, Metal Gear Solid and Death Stranding creator Hideo Kojima revealed his favorite films seen during 2018.
While famed designer Hideo Kojima has been known for decades as the maker of beloved games like the Metal Gear Solid franchise and the highly-anticipated Death Stranding, one of the more well-known facts about Kojima is the fact that he has a deep love of filmmaking and the art of movies.
As is tradition, Kojima shared through Twitter his list of favorite films from 2018, with the list of movies ranging from major blockbusters, to critically-praised indie films, and to some beloved foreign film hits.
Notably, that includes several movies from this year such as Paddington 2, Annihilation, Suspiria and more, alongside a few films that debuted last year such as Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, Mother!, and more.
Outside of the films on his list that Kojima saw over the year, he also made a special mention for Roma, the recently-released film from Gravity and Children of Men director Alfonso Cuaron, which has the film he had seen most recently.
As a cinephile myself, I’ve always loved the fact that Kojima has such a deep appreciation for film and given his body of work, it’s no surprise to see that outside of making games, he happens to try and see a lot of movies. Saw ROMA by Cuarón on Netflix. OMG this is amazing! The flaming structure throughout the movie, the layout, that long one shot from the corner of screen to the other corner, I can’t figure out how they shot but was thoroughly designed. This is the real movie for the big screen. pic.twitter.com/avbBxnq9Of
