This year has certainly been a hectic one for legendary Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima. After the divorce with Konami, he had to go back to the drawing board, finding new allies in Sony Interactive Entertainment, spearheaded by PS4 System Architect Mark Cerny, and Guerrilla Games.Today he took to Twitter to compare the alliance with the creators of Horizon: Zero Dawn and Killzone to space exploration, mentioning that the space race has stagnated, but he wanted to go to the moon. Then he met the folks at Guerrilla, who aimed even higher, wanting to reach Mars. Together, they decided to create a new rocket by working on the Decima Engine, which makes Kojima-san confident that they can figuratively reach not only Mars, but also Jupiter.

Kojima-san also reminisced on the past year, and on his technology research trip with Mark Cerny. He mentioned that he was not afraid of the unknown, but he was instead excited and hopeful. His perspective at that time was not wrong.

Personally, I really can't wait to see where the new rocket will bring Kojima Productions and Guerrilla Games. The story of their alliance was, at least for me, the most uplifting coming from PlayStation Experience.

For now we have seen some intriguing results and a creepy but gorgeous trailer. Only the future will tell what else they'll be able to create.
