Hideo Kojima Explains What Inspired the iDroid’s Voice in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Some wondered if the voice of the iDroid (voiced by Donna Burke in the English version) worn my Snake in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain was inspired by HAL9000 in 2001: A Space Odyssey. Today Hideo Kojima clarified that that is not the case.

For those unfamiliar, Dark Star is a 1974 science fiction flick co-written by Dan O’Bannon and directed by John Carpenter. It was John Carpenter’s first major film as a Director.
