Hideo Kojima: Japanese Gamers Have Shifted Away from Core Gaming, Focus is on Mobile and Portable Games

During a special AMA being held on Twitch, Hideo Kojima commented on the state of gaming in Japan, particularly in regards to the strength of the PS4, the lack of Xbox One, and struggling Wii U.

In his opinion, the era of buying a game and spending a huge amount of time with it is no longer the norm in Japan, as most gamers there have moved over to mobile and portable games. The reasoning for this is the fact that these games are easier to pick up, more user-friendly for the new generation of gamers, and can be completed quicker.

The AMA is currently being streamed on http://www.twitch.tv/konami.

Mr. Kojima’s next game, Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, is scheduled for release next week for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360.
