During The Game Awards 2015 Host and Producer Geoff Keighley made an announcement that sounded absolutely chilling.
Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain Director Hideo Kojima had every intention to be at the show to receive the Best Action Adventure award that his game won, but was informed by a lawyer working for Konami that he would not be allowed to do so.
On the other hand, Kiefer Sutherland was very clear and explicit that he was receiving the award “on behalf of Hideo Kojima.”
Kojima-san was also absent this morning at the PlayStation Awards, where the prizes for the game were received by Konami’s PR representatives. It’s likely that the same situation was mirrored there.
Respect goes to Sutherland for the way he received the prize, and to Keighley for being explicit about the situation. I really don’t know how to comment this without a healthy dose of profanity, so I’ll let you do it down below.
