The official site for Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Gou revealed preview screenshots for episode 20, alongside the episode’s main staff. Note that unlike most anime series, Higurashi Gou does not publish preview summaries before the episode airs, so we don’t have any here. In any case, we detailed everything below.

Higurashi Gou Episode 20 Release Time

Higurashi Gou first airs in Japan every week on Fridays, at 12:30 AM JST. The episodes are later officially available in America on Funimation under the title Higurashi When They Cry – Gou. For those who prefer it this way, there’s also an English dub version released with a ten episodes delay. The latest dubbed episode is Higurashi Gou episode 10.

Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni Gou episode 20 will be dealing more with Rika and Satoko’s school life at St Lucia Academy, and Rena will be making an appearance as well.

Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Gou is a sequel to the original games by Ryukishi07 and 07th Expansion. Initially, the anime was announced with no specific details on whether it’ll be a remake or a sequel. Its status as a sequel and brand new entry was revealed midway.

The first bluray box for Higurashi Gou will be on sale in Japan on February 24. I’m sure those of you who plan to import got their own means to do so, so this is just a reminder. The bluray box most notably contains an 1/7 scale figure of Rika with the Angel Mort costume.

Ryukishi07, before the launch of Higurashi Gou, also mentioned he’d like for more Umineko anime adaptations to happen.

In Japan, the mobile gacha game Higurashi Mei is also ongoing.


The 07th Expansion official account tweeted “Keep watching episode 20 until the very end”. While it’s not one of the tweets signed by Ryukishi07, this could mean episode 20 has more shocking developments in store.
