It is uncommon for developers to release entire biographies of their characters prior to a game's release, much like Hinterland Games has on the Kickstarter page for their upcoming game, The Long Dark. The developers have published a full biography for Will Mackenzie - the game's protagonist which will be voiced by Mass Effect's Mark Meer - detailing his life from his childhood up until the solar superstorm that caused his plane to crash and left him stranded in the wilderness.

What is interesting about this biography is how comprehensive it is in detailing Mackenzie's upbringing and family, as well as his feelings, his decisions, and his moments of indecision. It is too large and informative to be simply boiled down into a few quotes, so my advice is that you check it out for yourself over on the game's Kickstarter page. Hopefully all of this information is reflected in some form in the depiction of the character in-game.

The Long Dark is being developed by Hinterland Games for the PC, Mac, and Linux. The developers are shooting for an October 2014 release, and hope to eventually have the game released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One as well. As of this post, the game has amassed over $101,000 of its $200,000 goal.
